About Missions

As a congregation, we are very blessed and therefore feel we have something to offer to our community and our world. Join us in sharing the love and bounty of God's graces.

Habitat for Humanity

SBPC members have been honing their construction skills. You can find them framing, roofing, installing siding, and painting at Habitat projects in Fort Worth and Dallas. It's been a project embraced by church members young and old.

Our church supports the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth by preparing meals for families who are here caring for their young children in the hospital.

"What joy it gives us to be able to bring a little bit of home to these families who are experiencing such stress and worry in their lives right now. We like to bring a little nurturing and care to these folks."

Vicki Dudley, Keller

Upward Sports

Our Upward Sports program has taken off! Children and adults come together to play sports and learn about the love of God. Basketball and cheerleading programs are intertwined with devotional lessons, as children grown in body and spirit. The SBPC Upward Program, held January through March each year is a growing ministry and mission. We invite you to join in the fun.

"It is rewarding to see these eager children playing, learning, and listening as they learn about the love of Jesus, the word of God and grow in teamwork and good sportsmanship."

John Monrad, Southlake, Upwards Director

Women's Prayer Shawl Ministry

For women of all ages, including teenagers. This knitting group meets in member homes as they each work on a prayer shawl. Quarterly, the shawls are blessed during the worship program. It all part of a larger movement that started in 1998. The SBPC groups meets on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. And best of all:  No experience necessary!  For more info or directions, contact Beth Coggins at 817-912-1033 or cogginsfamily@hotmail.com.

"We knit for ailing church members, their family members and members of our community that are in need of comfort."

Beth Coggins, Southlake

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. This program provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas--Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift.

"What fun to fill these boxes with little bits of joy for children at Christmastime. It gives us great joy to work as a congregation together to fill and pack these boxes and share God's love."

Margaret Steele, Roanoke

Feed Our Kids/files/Pics/applesauce.jpg

Each summer we help sponsor the summer Feed Our Kids Program. During the first week in August, SBPC provides lunches for approximately 75 children in our community. These children usually depend on the school's free or reduced lunch program for their mid-day meal. We donate the food, pack the lunches, deliver them and interact with the children every day for our week of service.

KristinYouth Mission Trip to New Orleans

Our vibrant, caring youth have taken service to their hearts and are traveling each summer to the areas ravished by Hurricane Katrina. They are working hard and making a difference in the lives of families by building residences.

Our Presbyterian Missions

While our church has adopted the missions above as those that particularly touch our hearts, we also participate in the regional and worldwide missions of the Presbyterian Church USA.

Presbyterian Night Shelter of Fort Worth

The Presbyterian Night Shelter has evolved over the past 21 years into more than just a night’s lodging for the homeless. It is now a campus of facilities providing specialized care for specific segments of the homeless population, while continuing to serve the general homeless population in the existing Night Shelter.  The Night Shelter provides basic necessities to 400 – 700 homeless persons nightly.

DisasterPresbyterian Disaster Assistance

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance enables congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crisis and catastrophic events.

One Great HourOne Great Hour of Sharing

Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with people experiencing need. Our gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge, start new lives, and work together to strengthen their families and communities.
